How it works

Drawn in the font

Profanity is replaced with dots by the font itself, so it works anywhere the font loads.

Your own word list

Edit words.txt and run build.py. A plain word is censored anywhere; |word| matches the whole word only, plus s, ed, ing, er and y.

Change the cover

Set CENSOR_CHAR in build.py to cover words with a different character. Needs fonttools and brotli.

Use it

Put a space before and after the review text when you render it, so a swear word at the very start or end is still caught.
